Dr. Short has been modeling systems for over 30 years and is expert
with mathematics and fluent in a number of computer languages
including MATLAB and C++. PhaseLocked Systems has developed a
variety of models and simulation frameworks allowing us to quickly
and efficiently examine a variety of complex questions.
We are able to model digital modems as well as analog effects
including intermodulation and data conversion (A/D and D/A). Our
recent efforts include modeling OFDM(A) and spread spectrum modems
and we currently have a SATCOM project in which we will enable the
customer to operate high-power amplifiers at or near saturation.
Architecture Design and Review
We are well-versed in the practice and theory of system
architecture. We have practiced top-down system specification for
decades, and are able to use many techniques and tools including
object-oriented design using UML and SDL.

The end-game of the system development process is critical, and is
often ignored until very late in the program. We have assisted
clients in designing test suites early in the program.
Standards Support
We are familiar with wireless standards including 3GPP
standards, Ultrawideband, WiFi, WiMax, and more. Our deep
technical expertise allows us to provide support in
understanding and preparing standards.
Program planning and project management
Part of system design is to adequately plan the program. Good
program planning is architecture and validation based, and we are
solidly grounded in program planning techniques.
Patent Support and Review
We have a great deal of experience in the patent process from patent
preparation to assisting in patent litigation. While we are not
patent agents or attorneys, we are able to help with the technical
side of IP portfolio management.
Implementation and Verification
Through our network of associates, we are able to help with all
phases of the system design and implementation.
